International Trachoma Initiative: Working for a world free from trachoma
International Trachoma Initiative Project Overview
Here at Motifize we work a lot with agencies around the U.S. that hire us to do design and animation work. In this case with International Trachoma Initiative (ITI) we were hired to both design and animate a video about how Trachoma is the leading infectious cause of blindness in the world and what ITI is doing about it. We teamed up with an amazing artist, Mika Rane, to establish the art for this piece and we were stunned at how beautiful it turned out. All images featured in this project overview are property of Epipheo, Motifize was contracted by Epipheo to create the artwork, and animation.

Storyboards
Epipheo provided us with the storyboards, black and white rough/still sketches of how the video would look. We were able to use the storyboards as a guide for creating the other pieces of artwork. If the script was the base of the video, then the storyboards were the bones. After we had an approved set of storyboards we were ready to move on to the artwork phase of the video.
Artwork
The style of this video was illustrative, painted, with lots of textures and gradients of colors. Since these assets (illustrations) were created as rasterized images, we needed to create them large enough that we could animate them without having to scale them. That meant that each illustration was prepared beforehand for animation. The artwork on this piece was nothing short of beautiful. We were very pleased to have the opportunity to work on a project that went to a great cause.
